María Fragoso

Maria Fragoso’s vibrant imagery depicts scenes charged with a seductive and mystifying ambiance. Her visual lexicon incorporates elements such as snails, flies, dogs, shells, hybrid bodies and pre-Hispanic figurines. Maria’s work carries nuances reminiscent of the Mexican surrealist movement. However, she has forged her own reality by infusing her creations with scenes that delve into questions of gender, queer identity and human relations, as well as life and death. Her practice spans a combination of painting and drawing, and more recently, sculpture.
