Rafael Mayu Nolte

Rafael Mayu Nolte’s practice articulates drawings and fiction through the use of historical narratives and archives. He is interested in the relations between ego, design, violence, and the conflict between individual desire and collective determinations. From leaders and revolutionaries to the insane and the outcasts of society, he feels drawn to a broad spectrum of individuals who are in conflict with reality or seek to transform it. This leads him to an interest in utopic worlds and the cultural manifestations of a hypothetical space in which these struggles can be resolved.
